Hi there, I’m Katie! I’m a redheaded baker and self-taught cook embracing the San Francisco Bay Area life. I run, recycle, explore, and bake. I feel most at home in the kitchen, and I speak passionately about browned butter and caramelized onions. I always try to appreciate all the little things in life. Oh, and I love being cheeky.
I grew up learning how to cook and combine flavors in the kitchen with my mother, and as a result, I see an undeniable link between food and happiness. I made a New Year’s Resolution while I was living in France to cook one new, challenging recipe a week. Trying different ingredients, new recipes, challenging techniques, and local farmer’s markets – I loved the goal so much that I decided to add a blog to the resolution. I live my life by the French phrase and outlook on life, joie de vivre, literally, “the joy of living.” From the big stuff like family and friends to the little stuff like overhearing a crazy conversation, getting awesome new socks, finally seeing apricots at the farmers market, or indulging in spoonful after spoonful of salted browned butter chocolate chip cookie dough ;) I find joy in it all!
